Six-Word Memoirs

Has anyone read Six-Word Memoirs?  I've heard several of them on NPR, and they also made an appearance in a sermon at my church a few weeks ago.  I've yet to read it but I absolutely love the concept.  How hard to sum up your life, or even your experience in only six words.  Perhaps the first six-word memoir was "I came, I saw, I conquered."

This book would be great on my night-stand-to read a few before bed.  No plot to follow, or characters to remember.  I always like to have a few books like that around.  It's nice to be able to pick up a book after months, and to enjoy a few pages without having to start over from the beginning.

Does anyone else read more than one book at once?  I have a terrible habit of starting books before I've finished another one.  I'm probably in the middle of 8 or 10 books right now.  I always like to have a few non-fiction books going, a novel or two (usually one serious one and a light one), and then a few other random books.  I finish them all eventually.   It keeps things interesting, but it does mean I take a long time to finish anything.

I've never heard of that, but it does sound interesting. And I usually just read one book at a time...unless I'm reading something for school and something for fun at the same time, but I don't count reading for school as real reading.

I'm definitely guilty of giving up a book if it doesn't capture me in the first few chapters. So I immediately move on to the next

I've never been one for commitment. Which explains a lot.

Six-Word Memoirs sounds like something I'd start and not be able to put down. Generally though I have inconsistent reading habits, but I'm partial to essay collections.

Yes, I absolutely read more than one book at a time. And sometimes I give up reading a book before I've finished it, if I'm not enjoying it. I just figure, life is too short to waste time doing something you're not enjoying. Plus, there are so many amazing books out there to enjoy. I really love your blog! :)

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has more than one book going at once. I am fascinated by other people's reading habits.

And I'm glad to hear a thumbs-up for Six-Word Memoirs! I'm going to have to add it to my Amazon wish-list. Oh, that things is getting so long!
